Tip # 5 for Identity theft protection

5. Create an emergency identity kit: Would you know how to contact your credit card company in an emergency? Create an emergency kit that contains: your account number, expiration date, issuing company name, and emergency contact number for each card you own. While you’re at it, make copies of your driver’s license, social security card, birth certificate and passport and store them in a locked box or file cabinet, or a safe deposit box. I like the safe deposit box best, because this gives you protection in the event of a catastrophe such as fire, earthquake, etc.

Tip # 4 for Identity theft protection

4. Go virtual: For shopping online, there are “virtual” card numbers. These are randomly generated credit card numbers that are disposable and that on-line shoppers use once and throw away. It’s linked directly to your real credit card account so purchases show up on your monthly bill. The service is easy to use – and it’s FREE! All you need to do is register with companies offering the virtual card, and they are MBNA, Discover, and Citigroup

Tip # 3 for Identity theft protection

3. Secure your mail: Your mailbox is a goldmine of information. Between bank statement, bills, and all those pre-approved credit card offers, your mailbox is loaded with personal data which identity thieves can use to easily apply for a credit card in your name. Unless you diligently check your credit report, you may never even know about it. One way to avoid this is to have your mailbox under lock and key, but most of us in Santa Clarita have our mailboxes at the curb in front of our house and the postman frowns on carrying dozens and dozens of keys

Tip # 2 for Identity theft protection

2. Rethink check writing: That little slip of paper has way too much information. Some experts advise against check writing because it gives away your address, bank account number, signature and license number to complete strangers. On top of that, there’s no federal legislation to limit your liability for forged checks (each state has its own set of rules). Experts advise that you look into automating your bill paying

Copyrights..Kaboom!

Technology has found a way around copyrights. Making your movie viewing options plentiful and convenient. DVD Ripper is the angel here.Even windows media player has a ripper although it doesn't rip from copy protected DVD's. Here is when the 'free' software comes to the rescue!
Information is for sharing after all! I strongly don't believe in copy writing creative content. So folks, if Ctrl +c and Ctrl +v ain't working, get  a DVD ripper!

Tip # 1 for Identity theft protection

Understand debit card dangers: Greater liability than credit cards. When it comes to fraud, debit cards carry much greater personal liability than credit cards, depending on how quickly you report the loss of the card. If you fail to report unauthorized use within 60 days of receiving your bank statements, you could lose all the money in the account and be held responsible for the amount of money that has been tapped from your line of credit.

5 Tips For Identity Theft Protection

This is that time of year when we all start getting those emails that want to purloin our secret codes and passwords. You know the ones that have subject lines like: “Your Account Is About To Be Closed,” “There’s A Block On Your Account,” “Could You Help Me Claim My Funds,” or my all-time favorite “Congratulations – You’ve Won The UK Lottery.”

First and foremost, DON’T FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE EMAIL! If you think there might be a problem, access the account in question as you normally do on your PC and not with the link supplied in the phony email.

Here are some other tips to help you:
1. Understand debit card dangers.
2. Rethink check writing.
3. Secure your mail.
4. Go virtual.
5. Create an emergency identity kit.

I will update on each of these topics on the on coming posts. Stay tuned !

Don't ask! LA is terrific it seems to me. After insurance, Best Movers in Los Angeles are increasing their on line presence so as to provide maximum comfort and ease for the consumer. All varieties of services are offered by the movers. These are available for both residential and commercial purposes.
I'm seriously considering moving to LA looking at the search results. Don't be surprised if my next post also is about some other service in LA. Cant help it if its such a rocking city!;)

Insurance in LA

If you live in LA, you can love life. Obtaining a Los Angeles Life Insurance has to be the easiest thing next to saying 'I love you' to your partner! You can get quotes online or call 800 431 3920 to speak to independent insurance agent.
I was just on-line trying to find a suitable insurance scheme for myself and was amazed by how many of the results were specifically for LA. Technology sure has revolutionised how we live our lives and obtain our finances.

Satellite internet connection

An alternative to modem and broadband cable Internet connections are Satellite Internet connections. These ensure reach to all parts of the world although the technology has some technical aspects that are to be handled carefully by the providers. From the consumers point of view, mobility is the greatest advantage of this service if it takes off well commercially. Plus, unimaginable speeds of up to 1Gbps.The issue of high 'latency' or signal delay is being tackled rapidly by the  satellite internet service providers. With the current proposals, latency is set to be reduced to as low as 25 milliseconds, which is excellent!

Making Insurance exciting

The power of technology is such that there is a need for every kind of product to be exciting so as to sell! In this post I'v decided to discuss the excitement that has been brought into the good old financial instrument called Insurance. Motor Trade Insurance is one of quintessential forms of Insurance that is easily available now a days on-line. Less hassle and speed being the trademark of all internet based services, these insurances too have that property.
this sort of deep and revolutionizing use of internet and technology sadly though is limited largely to the developed countries. The developing countries struggle with issues such as large populations and limited space while the under developed are far from having even Google available to them. Honestly I believe the world would be a much better place for all of us if we, the developed nation, look beyond our selfish motives and engage in progressive knowledge sharing with the less developed nations.

The Grand Grandfather Clock

The pendulum clock aka grandfather clock is a symbol of austerity that has stood the test of time. Literally. How its works is based on the fundamental principle of physics that a simple pendulum takes exactly the same amount of time for a 'swing' as long as the length and weight at the end are maintained constant. The swing is provided for by a set of gear trains inter meshed so as to provide the necessary torque to the pendulum. The gear trains are in turn moved by a set of weights which give just enough force so as to overcome the frictional forces between the tooth of the gears. The weights move steadily and slowly down wards. Once they reach the bottom, they have to be wound back up and the movement of the pendulum resumes!

Technology in the religious cards space!

Technology is the all pervasive omnipresent god of sorts of the 20th century. From buying religious Christmas cards on amazon to watching sermons on you-tube. Technology has arrived in the ultimate controller of human social action- Religion. This is technology's baptism of sorts as the church has traditionally influenced social thinking even on science. To get the 'ok' green signal from the church in an intangible way speaks a great deal of its penetration. Remember how Copernicus and Galileo were persecuted for their 'heliocentricity' theory which the church maintained was against the holy scriptures? I believe not much of that influence the church had on its subjects has changed even today because, the power of the church is given to it only because the believers choose to.
